The Robotics Crosscutting Program (Rbx) is organized and operated in a manner that is critical to its ability to bring practical robotics-related solutions to the field and that properly uses national laboratories, industry, and universities. This section summarizes the organization and administration of the program. The Rbx is organized into product lines that correspond to the organization of technology focus areas within the Office of Science and Technology (OST) and to other special needs.

Currently, there are four product lines:

Within each product line, specific projects that correlate with Site Technology Coordination Group (STCG) and Program Baseline Summaries (PBS) needs statements are identified by analyzing remediation requirements and determining viable robotics-related technology opportunities that have clear benefits. Within product-line projects, various robotics and remote systems technologies exist that "crosscut" other product lines and projects. Product-line managers work directly with OST focus area management teams to obtain focus area support and concurrence with all Rbx projects. In this way, technology investments are leveraged in a systematic manner across the entire Rbx.
