Tour and Demonstration of the Pit Viper Cold Test Facility

On Thursday, May 17, 2001, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) Robotics Crosscutting Program staff hosted a tour of the Pit Viper cold test facility for the Hanford Site Technology Coordination Group (STCG) Management Council. Representatives from the Washington State Department of Ecology, the Environmental Protection Agency, Oregon Office of Energy, City of Richland, Nez Perce Tribe, CHG, DOE Office of River Protection, Tanks Focus Area, and PNNL. A project overview was given, followed by a tour of the control trailer and remote compact console, a walking tour of the pit prop, and demonstration of several live debris removal and tool acquisition tasks. Below are photographs of some of the tour participants in the pit prop area, and the Viper robot performing a pick and place task.
