This Robotics Crosscutting
Program (Rbx) will develop technologies that will enable automation to
function in plutonium glovebox and hot cell operations.
The principle technology developed in this program will be deployable
robotics that operate in the confined and harsh environments of glovebox,
hot cells, and permacon operations. The program will coordinate with other
DOE efforts to accomplish the development and testing of modular automation
concepts that will enable the deployment of robotics into high-exposure/confined
environments with increased mean-time-between failure, serviceability,
and operations capability.
