(Tech ID 2088)

Click to view full size imageThe Tanks Focus Area is developing a series of "Compact Processing Units" (CPUs) for pretreatment of high-level tank waste. Examples of CPUs underway or completed include Out-Of-Tank Evaporation and Cesium Removal CPUs. The Robotics Crosscutting Program (Rbx) is collaborating with the Tanks Focus Area, Characterization, Monitoring, and Sensors Program (CMSP) and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Environmental Management Program on the development of a sludge waste conditioning CPU for ORNL Gunite tank sludges. Rbx will provide design assistance to assure that the sludge conditioning CPU incorporates remote maintenance design features.
