The Savannah River Site (SRS) and West Valley Demonstration Project (WVDP) currently do not have the capability to perform decontamination, size reduction, and disposal tasks on highly contaminated failed process equipment. There are many opportunities to reduce costs, improve efficiencies, and reduce worker exposures through the implementation of remote manipulation and updated camera and light systems. The West Valley, Savannah River, and Oak Ridge sites will specify, procure, integrate, and demonstrate remote manipulation equipment for completing size reduction and disposal tasks on failed process equipment.
